Become a volunteer!
While we’re always accepting new volunteer applications, we may not have any volunteer projects at the time you apply. We will reach out when a new volunteer project arises that matches your interests, and we appreciate your patience!
Please also note that volunteers with our Head Start Program must be at least 16 years or older.
*As a note, CAAS requires that staff and volunteers submit to a CORI request in order to gather Criminal Offender Record Information.
SPECIAL VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY:
Help others with tax preparation
Spend a few hours a week providing free tax preparation assistance to low to moderate income families in your community—and make all the difference. Your training is free, and you’ll become an IRS-certified tax preparer, thanks to the federal Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.

SPECIAL VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY:
Help stop evictions in Somerville
In January 2021, the CAAS Organizing team launched the citywide Eviction Response Network to coordinate housing stability resources and organizing support to tenants/renters facing eviction, especially in cases of illegal evictions. This community effort combines upstream eviction prevention (such as Know Your Rights canvasses), with mobilization during eviction emergencies, and ongoing support for tenants to ensure their recovery from housing instability. We are an explicitly non-violent direct action network and expect all our members to commit to the values of non violence.
