About the Danceathon

Welcome to the Somerville Shakeup Danceathon, where you can support the fight for economic justice in Somerville as you dance to music through the decades! Groove the day away to everything from the big bands of the Roaring 20’s to the brassy beats of the Swinging 60’s, with music from DJ Cliff and DJ Rico Snare.

We’ll be raffling prizes from local businesses, including Razor’s Barbershop and Crane & Turtle, plus giving out prizes at the end of the night for both individual and team costumes! Bring your friends and family for this day of dancing delights as we to fight end poverty in our community.

There are three main ways to participate at the Somerville Shakeup!

Flying Solo

Everyone is welcome at the Danceathon! Don’t have a team? You can still come dance with us! Sign up to join as an attendee at bit.ly/Shakeup-Attendee. Tickets are free, but donations of any amount are encouraged!

Forming a team

Maximize your impact by forming a team! Teams of dancers can register to participate in the Danceathon at bit.ly/Somerville-Shakeup. After creating a team, dancers will look for team supporters to either make a donation or pledge to make a donation for every hour spent on the dancefloor. We have toolkits to help you get started.

Becoming a supporter

Become a team supporter and help make a difference in our community! You can make a one-time donation to support a team at bit.ly/Somerville-Shakeup, or reach out to a team captain to make a pledge.
